Today I worked on a short story idea. I started this little project about two years ago and shared it with a few coworkers back in the Air Force. They seemed to have enjoyed it, so I sent it to my editor, who of course tore it apart. She (my editor) has a wonderful way of telling me that I keep missing the same things over, and over, and over... and over... without hurting my feelings. Now... it has been about a year since I've even looked at this project, so today, I opened it up and set to fixing it.
This is where the dilemma is. I just recently "transitioned" from full time to part time employment, so funds are getting low. Do I want to take a chance and submit the story for potential funds? Or, should I post it here for your reading pleasure? Perhaps there is a third option... one that will satisfy both? How about this: send an email to [email protected] with "tMail" in the Subject line, I will reply and send you a PDF of my short story titled tMail. AND, since the story hasn't been published, I will still submit it to a rag for publication and potential payment. Its a win-win situation, right? Have a great weekend! ~AJ Today, Monday June 14th, 2014, I declare a holiday in the Realm of Reality. My gosh... I had an idea (a long time ago) to make a game based in the Realm of Reality (where Awakenings takes place). I am currently taking a class called "The Creative Process" which has forced me to sit down and work on a project (of my choice) steadily throughout the course. It has been a desperate challenge (with my considerable time restraints), but alas... I have finished it!
3-Chains is a 2-6 player game designed as a Print-and-Play. Players will need lots of polyhedral dice and a deck of playing cards. Additionally, they'll need a printer (preferably color) and some scissors to cut out templates, cards, character sheets and tiles... but I'm getting ahead of myself... there is much yet to be done. Firstly, I have to play test it. Oh the pains of play testing... I can't wait to get some feedback. This weekend I plan on getting some play testing done, but I have a secret play testing weapon in Idaho... right Merrilee? After that its a simple registered copyright and boom, it'll go up for download on the website. More on the game background, when it takes place and how many pages (its a lot) it will consist of later. I have to get my but to school Okay, its time to start this thing off. I'm AJ and i'm a writer. I work for an air conditioning company in Tampa, Florida, but I'm an Air Force trained generator mechanic. No... I don't know why, its not even a really good fit... and the money isn't really good... I suppose I haven't thought that through yet, but hey I've only been working there for 8 months.
I started taking some college courses at Eckerd in St. Petersburg and that is proving quite fun. I should have a BA in Creative Writing in another couple years. Along the way I've picked up a few skills that I want to start sharing with you. I make games, write stories, craft wooden swords and do some other odd stuff when I'm left with "extra time". I'm working towards editing some videos to show you what I've been up to. Meanwhile, I do have some completed things... the first book in a fantasy series and a tabletop game called Battle Kings. You can learn more about both of them by perusing this website. The whole point of this? HAVE FUN! |
