Serrun Guthwith was born a noble but raised as a spearman in his king’s army. In service, he mastered weaponry, embraced responsibility and accountability, and developed an indomitable grit. Spearmen were expected to charge the front lines and die honorably, but Guthwith proved an exception. Guthwith’s night marches along the northern and southern borders became legendary. He built a network of spies that provided critical intelligence, earning him a reputation for preventing battles before they could begin. His troops created a banner for his regiment: a black spade—resembling a spear tip—on a field of black. The symbol became synonymous with victory, as his reputation often won battles before a weapon was drawn. One fateful night in the Western Ridges, a hotspot for three-way  skirmishes between the northern, southern, and eastern kingdoms, Guthwith’s forces found themselves in sudden conflict and his regiment sustained heavy casualties. Wounded but alive, Guthwith and his surviving soldiers returned home, only to find news of their defeat had traveled faster than their lamed steeds. His land was seized by a rival noble house, and the king ordered his name erased from the history books. Stripped of rank, title, and property, Guthwith was cast aside for failing to maintain his undefeated reputation. After days of recovery among a den of thieves, Guthwith plotted his revenge. With a handful of his most loyal men, he infiltrated the king’s chambers under cover of darkness and assassinated him in his sleep. They eliminated the king’s guards and advisors in one night, raising the black spade over the kingdom. With the support of his regiment, Serrun Guthwith overthrew the eastern kingdom of Tistrofel and claimed the throne as the 'King of Spades.'

Standing 6'0" tall and weighing 180 lbs., Guthwith wields Lex Talionis, a spear forged explicitly for his style of combat. Its razor-sharp edges have shredded the hands of any who dare attempt to lift it. He also carries the ensorcelled twin javelins Shadowream and Deathreach, as well as wearing the finest armor crafted in honor of his caste.

Strategies to Consider
Picture
The King of Spades is all about banners—winning them, reclaiming them, and using them to become an unstoppable force. Every banner in your possession makes you stronger, tougher, and deadlier, and unlike other kings, you have ways to take back what’s rightfully yours. You're built for endurance. The longer you stay in the game, the harder you hit and the harder you are to kill. If played well, you’ll turn every attack against you into an opportunity—and by the time your opponents realize their mistake, it'll be too late.

Banner Lord
Your Trait: The Banner Champion is a scaling monster. The more banners you hold, the strong your attacks and shields will become. Your number one goal is to go head-hunting and collect them as soon as the opportunities arise. Target weakened enemies. Follow-up after heavy attacks that leave opponents weakened. Try to convince others to target kings that are after you in the Path of Prestige so they won't have the opportunity to re-shield before you can finish them off. The other kings don't often care about trophy banners, you should wholeheartedly focus on distracting them so you can swoop in for the kills. Your L-1: Loyalty ability is your greatest weapon against an opponent with your banner. You can gain a potential Critical Strike attack card, heal a small amount and retrieve a lost banner in one fell swoop. Javelin is your silent assassin tool. Unlike normal attacks, this can’t be counterattacked, meaning you can poke at enemies during their turn, picking off weaker foes without fear of retaliation. Don't worry about the Overkill Power Crystals, they'll come in time as you build your trophy banner collection, and thus, your might.

Battlefield Phantom
You are never down and out because you have multiple ways to retrieve what is lost. If you loose banners too quickly, or if there are abundant trophy banners floating around the arena, blow your L-2: Clarion Call like a war horn in a silent battlefield to snatch as many as you can. This can grant you an instant boost of power that is unrivalled by the other kings. A little patience allowing others to do most of the dirty work and some good luck with your roller's choice rolls could instantly make you a universal threat. Diplomacy and timing are crucial.

Silent Hunter
Stay under the radar in the early game. Let others brawl and trash talk while you quietly gather momentum. Use small Critical Strikes against big shields to collect Power Crystals without drawing attention. People will laugh at you for "throwing away a crit", but you have a plan. Collect banners banners using L-1: Loyalty and/or picking off weaker players with L-1: Javelin. Late game, if you're low on banners or there are some stragglers you haven't collected from kills, pop your L-2: Clarion Call. Watching other players groan as you reclaim all your banners, and a few trophy banners will be worth it. Also consider using your L-1: Javelin to poke enemies and reduce their HP behind their shields and defenses (it is piercing damage so bypasses everything). This could be the encouragement that other players need to redirect focus and break a shield for you in the attempt to bring your target to their knees. Make sure they don't have a huge hand of cards, or they may steal the kill from you.

Final Thoughts
The King of Spades is a master of endurance, vengeance, and banner control. If you play him aggressively and tactically, you will become an unkillable force of destruction. Your enemies will dread your resilience, fear your ranged attacks, and regret every banner they ever took from you (and those that you took from them). When you win—because let’s be honest, you will—you won’t just be the last king standing. You’ll be the legend they tell stories about.

Aurelia "Shadowfire" Sombra - The Thief

Picture
In a single night, Aurelia transformed from a military logistics savant, to outlaw when she aided King Guthwith, the King of Spades, in usurping the Eastern Kingdom of Tistrofel. Her brilliance was instrumental to their swift revolution, a testament to her mastery of resolving impossible situations. Though calm and reserved, often blending into the background socially, an unrelenting fire within often drives her into the very conflicts she seeks to control. She calls it her "passion for a plan". Aurelia is plagued by kleptomania and often finds herself in possession of someone else’s belongings, a skill King Guthwith has put to vital use. Her tiny stature and naturally quiet disposition has often provided her with advantages. Though that fiery temper and "passionate" approach to situations has given her amble opportunity to become a master thief, a perfect representative for the Spades Dynasty.

Shadowfire stands 5'2" tall and weighs 105 pounds. She is just as likely to use her alluring sexuality as she is her daggers to gain advantage in most situations. However, her ability to disappear into the shadows has given her a perfect escape method for poorly executed plans. She is highly skilled with daggers of all shapes an forms, particularly her twin long blades. Having embraced her moniker, she lovingly called one of them shadow, and the other fire. She is also extremely adept with the bandolier of small Syphon Blades.  King Guthwith specifically crafted her armor for her frame to allow for both her allure and flexibility to fight freely, unburdened with the bulky armor adorned by most combatants. When King Guthwith was presented with the option of a champion to fight in his stead, Aurelia was his obvious choice.

When not spying for the King of Spades, Aurelia hones her skills alongside a small band of adventurers who call themselves The Chosen—the other four champions of their respective kings. They alone understand the world has changed. When the Bone King was raised in a magical explosion, the land of Tistrofel cracked open, revealing an underground world teeming with dangerous creatures and wild magic. Now, The Chosen have taken it upon themselves to hold the darkness at bay for as long as they can.
